Imagine if we were able to achieve this vision:
All children in Pune will be attending school and learning to their fullest potential’

A new sense of hope will emerge in our public schools, students, parents and system administration. The wellbeing of communities across the city, will improve. And in the long run, our city’s economy will scale as a skilled and productive workforce feeds innovation and growth for Pune’s development.

Achieving this vision needs time, treasure and talent from various corporates. We would like to start generative conversations with key stakeholders in the system – teachers, school leaders, system administration, school board members, the Municipal Corporation, NGOs, and corporates – for designing a common agenda for Pune’s government education system. In this process of transformation, we wish to build the capacity of the system through the ‘Sahyogi Dal Project’ and also create proof points of excellent government schools by developing 25 model schools by 2020. We would also like to take up short term projects that are aligned to building system capacity and creating large scale change.

Corporates can support and partner with the PCC Quality Education initiative by:

Contributing towards the In-service Teacher Development program viz., the Sahyogi Dal Project

  1. Supporting trainings workshops per region/ cluster per month
  2. Supporting training workshops for a long term period (quarter/half year/year)
  3. Exposure and field visits for Sahyogi members
  4. Partnering the entire project and funding it for a year
Funding ranges from Rs. 3 lakhs to Rs. 40 lakhs

Contributing towards the Model School Development program

Corporates could take up any of the following, for a specific school or across all 25 model schools:

  1. Teacher training and leadership development programs
  2. Curriculum related programs for students
  3. Supporting infrastructure like libraries, science laboratories, drinking water, toilets etc.
  4. Adopting an entire school for a time period of 1 to 3 years
Funding ranges from Rs. 2 lakhs to Rs. 1.5 crores

Contributing towards short term system-building projects

These are capacity building & systemic initiatives like:

  1. School Leadership Development program for PMC School Head Masters
  2. Education Leadership Program for PMC Administrative officers
  3. Setting up Training labs for teacher development
  4. English language development project for PMC schools
Funding ranges from Rs. 1 lakh to Rs. 40 lakhs

Apart from funding support, it would be useful to have employees from funding corporates, lend time and talent in leading special projects within the PCC education track. This could range from designing a process for measuring impact of teacher trainings to consulting on setting up of HR management practices in schools and the school board. We would also encourage the employees to volunteer for teacher training workshops and in schools for English language development.

Pune City Connect, through CSR for PMC schools (supported by Shyamchi Aai Foundation) will be the supporting and single point agency for approvals and necessary permissions required to work with the PMC schools. These will be routed through the CSR & NGO Cell set up at the School Board Office in Shivaji Nagar.
